Tree Pose, like its Siamese twin "Lord of the Dance", is made of Portoro Marble, which is a fine variety of Italian marble from the charming Gulf of Poets, in the Ligurian province of La Spezia, about one hour's drive north of Carrara, Italy.

​

The Tree Pose, known as Virksasana in Sanskrit, is a basic yoga pose used to promote balance and centering.  It stretches the thighs, groins, torso, and shoulders and builds strength in the ankles and calves, and tones the abdominal muscles. The pose also helps to remedy flat feet and is therapeutic for sciatica.

The practitioner is encouraged to think "like a tree" and to extend their roots down and blossom their arms up toward the sun.
